Sitting With Feelings

BY MADISYN TAYLOR

Taking the time now to sit with your feelings and acknowledge them will save you much distress down the road.

It can take great courage to really sit with our feelings, allowing ourselves to surrender to their powerful energies. All too often we set our feelings aside, thinking we will deal with them later. If we don’t deal with them, we end up storing them in our minds and bodies and this is when anxiety and other health issues can arise. Denying what our bodies want to feel can lead to trouble now or down the line, which is why being in the thick of our feelings, no matter how scary it seems, is really the best thing we can do for ourselves.

One of the reasons we tend to hide or push aside our feelings is that we live in a culture that has not traditionally supported emotional awareness. However, as the connection between mind and body–our emotions and our physical health– becomes clearer, awareness of the importance of feeling our feelings has grown. There are many books, classes, workshops and retreats that can help us on our way to emotional intelligence. We can also trust in our own ability to process what comes up when it comes up. If sadness arises, we can notice its presence and welcome it, noting where in our bodies we feel it, and allowing ourselves to express it through tears or a quiet turning inward.

When we simply allow ourselves to fully feel our feelings as they come, we tend to let them go easily. This is all we are required to do; our feelings simply want to be felt. We often complicate the situation by applying mental energy in the form of analysis, when all we really need is to allow, as the earth allows the rain to fall upon it. As the rain falls, the earth responds in a multitude of ways, sometimes emptying out to form a great canyon, sometimes soaking it up to nourish an infinitude of plants. In the same way, the deeper purpose of our feelings is to transform the terrain of our inner world, sometimes creating space for more feelings to flow, sometimes providing sustenance for growth. All we need to do is allow the process by relaxing, opening, and receiving the bounty of our emotions

The Moon and Astrology: How it affects our daily life… Transiting Moon in Scorpio November 2017: New Moon November 18

Present Moon Sign/Phase/House:

Zodiac signs with women's faces- Scorpius Stock Photo - 24022483
http://www.123rf.com: Copyright : macchia
  • Date(s): November 16 2017 3:19 am (ET) 12:19 am (PT)
  • Moon Sign: Scorpio
  • Moon Phase: 4th
  • Void-of-Course: November 18 6:42 am (ET) 3:42 am (PT) (Time of the New Moon) to Moon in Sagittarius Early in the afternoon : Scorpio is NOT one of the “good” v/c signs.
  • House(s): 1st & 2nd house: Houses of the self & of finances/material security.
  • Opportunity Period: November 18 6:18 am (ET) 3:18 am (PT) to 7:18 am (ET) 4:18 am (PT)… It’s early in the morning, but if you are up and about, it is a good time to start on that new project.

What does it all mean?

  • Scorpio is very intense and probably the most sensitive of the zodiac signs. She is ruled by Pluto now, but was once considered to be ruled by Mars… she likely retains some of the Martian influence.
  • The moon relates to our emotions, indicating we could be feeling everything more deeply for the next couple of days
  • We can immerse ourselves in our projects now.
  • Watch for becoming obsessed with someone or something…. not everyone falls for someone at the same time and patience may be needed regarding sensitive relationship matters
  • Be sure that your partner, friend, lover, co-worker or school friend is really trying to upset your personal apple cart before making waves
  • We could be encouraged or directed towards taking risks or doing things we wouldn’t normally do, especially those of a group or team nature.
  • Sex may be high on the agenda for some of us… so if you don’t want to help the world population grow right now use caution… :)
  • Some of us may be highly creative right now, while others get connected to their psychic side…
  • Secrets may be told now… we can be enticed to open up to others about our deepest feelings/fantasy’s…
  • In the 1st house: This is the house that is connected to OURSELVES… We can be overly sensitive under this influence as we are emotionally vulnerable so take care of what you THINK you are hearing… May be a good time for some of us to change-up our appearance…. and others may feel more protective or nurturing towards loved ones… This is a good time for meditation and getting in touch with our feelings… Energy levels may be higher, if they are it’s a great time to get stuff done.. However, it could be a challenge to stick to a routine or one idea now.
  • In the 2nd house: This is the house connected to our finances and what makes us feel secure. Scorpio is connected to the 8th house & Pluto which connects to shared money matters such as insurance, mortgage, investments etc… If such issues come up right now, it’s a good time to review them. We are emotionally connected to our finances, which may affect how we are feeling over the next few days. Try not to impulse spend, especially if feeling a little “blue”. It’s best to stay grounded during this time by not attempting to do something or become a part of a situation outside of the emotional “comfort zone”.
  • This next few days may be positive for the following: Antique shopping and moving.
  • While we will all be effected slightly by the Scorpio moon, she will have a greater effect on those who have the following in their charts..

    • Moon in Scorpio
    • Moon in Taurus
    • Sun in Scorpio
    • Ascendant in Scorpio
    • Mid-heaven in Scorpio
    • Moon in the 1st,  2nd or 8th house
    • Aspects to the Moon or Pluto
    • Ascendant or Mid-heaven in Scorpio
    • Those who have a strong Taurus chart influence.

New Moon in Scorpio November 18 2017

The above traits will be stronger under the Influence of the new moon. Be especially careful when it comes to spending money, as we can be tempted to spend more than we have, or to believe we will be capable of recouping any “overage” at a later date. Remember that Scorpio is a water sign, she feels everything intensely. .. Tempers may flair, due to misconceptions or miscommunication, The New Moon is traditionally thought of as the perfect time to begin new projects, relationships, jobs etc…. The moon moves into the 1st quarter on November 19th… it is better to wait until then to begin anything new if you can… The moon will move into the sign of Sagittarius on November 18 at 1:59 pm (ET) 10:59 am (PT).

The Moon and Astrology

HOW IT AFFECTS OUR DAILY LIVES…

In astrology, the moon is connected to our emotions and reactions… how we are feeling on a given day may well be influenced by the sign that is visiting the moon… The moon stays with each sign for up to 2.5 days…. :)

The Moon Void-of-Course:

There are times throughout the month when the moon isn’t fully immersed in any sign… this is when we say the moon is Void of Course… and when this occurs, we may feel “foggy” and “unfocused” … We may not be sure how we are truly feeling about a situation or a person…. Therefore it is not recommended that we make long-term commitments or important decision’s while the moon is Void of Course…. However there are 4 signs in the zodiac which may prove positive during the Void-off-Course moon…

Good for Void-Of-Course Moon:

These v/c signs may prove to be quite productive times.

  • Cancer
  • Taurus
  • Sagittarius
  • Pisces…

Opportunity Periods  (thanks to astrologer Jim Shawvan):

There are other periods throughout the month that are known as Opportunity Periods, when it can prove to be a positive time for most people, however if you have challenging aspects happening within your own chart you may not be able to make use of opportunity periods.

Thanks to Jim Shawvan present day astrologer, William Lilly 17th century astrologer and Llewellyn’s Daily Planetary Guide for opportunity periods.
