If emailing our Town Council members of Whitby, and you want your email to be viewed only by the person (s) you address it to, please make sure you mark your email “Private and Confidential” or Specify you do not want your email  forwarded to any one else.

A local resident is up in arms about a recent email she  sent to Whitby Mayor Pat Perkins in which she stated some concerns she had regarding Regional Chair Roger Anderson. The resident did not want the email to go to Mr. Anderson and thought she was sharing in confidence her concerns with some one she felt would either understand or perhaps offer possible solutions.

The email in question did in fact end up being received by Mr. Anderson although no one from the Town of Whitby seems to know who forwarded the email to Mr. Anderson. However, the resident in question received an email personally from Mr. Anderson addressing her concerns.

It is unfortunate this happened, for I am sure the resident in question is now reluctant to voice any future concerns. Hopefully, due to this particular incident being published this sort of thing will not be happening in the future.

If you have concerns regarding the direction the Town of Whitby may be taking, or about anything you would like answers to, don’t hesitate to send in your concerns.

However always keep in mind that even with marking your email “confidential” or Do not forward there still may be circumstances in which the email could legally be disclosed without the consent of the original sender….

FYI: The latest from Team Chelsea…

For your interest, please view the latest email from Team Chelsea member Janet.

Thank you to all of you for your continued support, time and efforts in the ongoing search for Chelsea.

We continue to search and as always hope that Chelsea’s capture will be the next one to report.

We were unable to locate the loose black dog with the white chest this past Wednesday near Anderson and Manning in Whitby, but it was not for lack of trying.

As with the large paw prints seen in the Pringle Creek area, we have no way of knowing at this time if these are Chelsea’s prints, since there are many other dogs that are walked in that area everyday. It is an area that we do walk frequently and monitor, as with various other green space areas, as we know Chelsea does move about. The weather has certainly been beautiful and has made it very pleasant to be out and about while searching.

Congratulations to Lana for assisting a young kitten that she found near a ravine. The kitten was very underweight and in needing help. Thanks to Lana, the kitten now has a new home and a family who cares about her. Thanks Lana, well done!!!!!!

In addition to the 94 pets that have been rescued, while searching for Chelsea, 2 goats and 2 cows were also returned to their farms. As well, several horses were secured as the farmer was unaware that his fencing was down in an area near a very busy road. Way to go Ann !!!!!!!

Because of you, these pets have been reunited with their families, and the livestock now safely back at the farm. We know how important it is to act quickly when any animal is on the loose and in danger, “if it is loose and alone, lend a hand and a leash”.

Thank you for spreading the word about Chelsea and for keeping an eye out for her and all loose animals. We very much appreciate all that you do.

What to do if you spot Chelsea:

• Immediately call 905-706-2635 or 905-666-4676

Remain calm – projecting a calm energy is very important

DO NOT face her square on – instead have your body on an angle so you are not in a threatening position

• You can try to lure her with treats, speak quietly, slowly and calmly in order to create curiosity in her rather than excitement

Allow her to come to you – if she moves away then keep your distance but try and keep her in your sights.

Please do NOT chase or tackle Chelsea, we do not want her to be subjected to any further trauma and we do not want any harm to come to her or you.
