Oh where would the world be without the wonderful Aquarian? With their inventive minds and capacity for personal freedom and change, they assist with the evolution of the human species.

You guys and gals catch on very quickly to the things you need to know, and while you can be a bit unconventional, unpredictable and some may say unreliable, it’s a different story when you get passionate about something or decide to sink your teeth into a project, watch out peeps, cos you won’t be able to change his/her mind and she/he will plow on ahead with focus and determination until the task is done or something else tickles the fancy…. ☺

The Moon and Astrology: How it affects our daily life…Transiting Moon in Gemini January 2016

The Moon and Astrology

HOW IT AFFECTS OUR DAILY LIVES…

In astrology, the moon is connected to our emotions and reactions… how we are feeling on a given day may well be influenced by the sign that is visiting the moon… Each sign stays with the moon for up to 2.5 days…. :)

The Moon Void-of-Course:

There are times throughout the month when the moon isn’t fully immersed in any sign… this is when we say the moon is Void of Course… and when this occurs, we may feel “foggy” and “unfocused” … We may not be sure how we are truly feeling about a situation or a person…. Therefore it is not recommended that we make long-term commitments or important decision’s while the moon is Void of Course…. However there are 4 signs in the zodiac which may prove positive during the Void-of-Course moon…

Good for Void-Of-Course Moon:

These v/c signs may prove to be quite productive times.

  • Cancer
  • Taurus
  • Sagittarius
  • Pisces…

Opportunity Periods  (thanks to astrologer Jim Shawvan):

There are other periods throughout the month that are known as opportunity periods, when it can prove to be a positive time for most people, however if you have challenging aspects happening within your own chart you may not be able to make use of opportunity periods.

Thanks to Jim Shawvan present day astrologer, William Lilly 17th century astrologer and Llewellyn’s Daily Planetary Guide for opportunity periods.

Present Moon Sign/Phase/House:

Gemini is an air Sign Twins are the embodiment of tenderness, joy and friendship Immerse yourself in the world of beauty and paradise Stock Photo - 20395597
http://www.123rf.com: Copyright : helein
  • Date: January 19 to 21 2016
  • Moon Sign: Gemini: 4:13 am (ET) 1:13 am (PT)
  • Moon Phase: 2nd
  • Void-of-Course: January 21 @ 3:01 am (ET) 12:01 am:(PTto 8:28 am (ET) 5:28 am (PT)
  • House(s) 8th house of, sex, shared money & mergers, matters psychotherapy, surgery, and how we deal with loss/death.
  • Opportunity Period: January 20 @8:08 pm (ET) 5:08 pm (PT) to January 21 @3:01 am (ET) 12:01 am  (PT)..  For those who find working in the later hours this could prove to be a productive time period. ;)

What does it all mean?

  • Gemini is an air sign and needs lots of stimuli. She is ruled by Mercury. Transiting Mercury is presently retrograde, in the sign of Capricorn; in the 4th house of domestic duties and family.
  • The house connected to Gemini is the 3rd house of: day-to-day travel/affairs and siblings… we could find ourselves busy with multiple things going on, even if they are just in our own minds… ;) Dealings with family, especially siblings, are likely. Memories are shared and possible solutions to old problems can be found. However, wait until after the Mercury Retrograde before putting any new ideas or plans into motion.
  • We may find we are trying to do multiple things at once, which may not go exactly as we may have planned. If you do find you have tons of ideas spinning around in your head, take pen to paper and jot them down… it will ease the “inside chatter” and you may find some of them useful later on.
  • Could be lots of chit chatting going on, and some of us may have to make a concerted effort to listen instead of chat.
  • Caution is advised when doing up letters, emails and relaying messages, as much as we may think we have it right, it’s better to check one more time
  • In the 8th house:
    • Some folk may need some time to recuperate after surgery… hopefully the healing will be swift and complete. Dealings regarding our material security may be in focus.
    • Could be a good time to check over insurance policies and finances.
    • Those affected by this placing may be feeling more emotionally sensitive during this time. Patience may be required from those with Earth influences.
  • It’s a good time to get those lists and notes made up… we can feel good about putting pen to paper now.
  • Boredom may be at our door step and we may feel more restless than usual.
  • This moon sign will have more of an effect on those who have the following in their charts.
    • Moon in Gemini,
        • Sun in Gemini
        • Sun in Virgo
        • Moon in Sagittarius
        • Moon in the 8th house
        • Any aspects to the Moon, Mercury or Jupiter

We are the world; we must act on that understanding

The coming year looks bright with the promise of change after a difficult decade for environmentalists and our issues. But even with a new government that quickly moved to gender equity in cabinet, expanded the Ministry of the Environment to include climate change, and offered a bravura performance at the climate talks in Paris, can Canada’s environmentalists close up shop and stop worrying?

Of course not. The nature of politics includes constant trade-offs, compromises and disagreements. Even with a government sympathetic to environmental issues, we won’t act deeply and quickly enough or prevent new problems because we haven’t addressed the root of our environmental devastation. The ultimate cause isn’t economic, technological, scientific or even social. It’s psychological. We see and interact with the world through perceptual lenses, shaped from the moment of conception. Our notions of gender, ethnicity, religion, socio-economic status and the environment we grow up in all limit and create our priorities.

If we were to examine the anatomy of human brains, the circuitry and chemistry of neurons or the structure of our sense organs, nothing would permit us to distinguish gender, ethnicity or religion because we all belong to a single species. But if you were to ask a man and a woman about love, sex or family, answers could be quite disparate. A Jew and Muslim living in Israel might respond differently to questions about Gaza, the West Bank or Jerusalem. A Catholic and Protestant living in Northern Ireland might hold radically different outlooks about their country’s history.

We learn how to see the world. That, in turn, determines our priorities and actions. The world has been overwhelmed by the belief that our species stands at the pinnacle of evolution, endowed with impressive intelligence and able to exploit our surroundings as we see fit. We feel fundamentally disconnected from nature and therefore not responsible for the ecological consequences of our actions. Even at the 2015 Paris climate conference , the sense of urgency about climate change was dampened by the perceived equal need to protect jobs and to consider the economic costs of aiding vulnerable nations and even ways to continue exploiting fossil fuels, the very agents of the crisis.

We can’t just look at the world as a source of resources to exploit with little or no regard for the consequences. When many indigenous people refer to the planet as “Mother Earth”, they are not speaking romantically, poetically or metaphorically. They mean it literally. We are of the Earth, every cell in our bodies formed by molecules derived from plants and animals, inflated by water, energized by sunlight captured through photosynthesis and ignited by atmospheric oxygen.

Years ago, I visited a village perched on the side of an Andean mountain in Peru. People there are taught from childhood that the mountain is an apu, a god, and that as long as that apu casts its shadow on the village, it will determine the destiny of its inhabitants. Compare the way those people will treat that mountain with the way someone in Trail, B.C., will after being told for years the surrounding mountains are rich in gold and silver.

Is a forest a sacred grove or merely lumber and pulp? Are rivers the veins of the land or sources of power and irrigation? Is soil a community of organisms or simply dirt? Is another species our biological relative or a resource? Is our house a home or just real estate?

Once we learn that our very being, essence, health and happiness depend on Mother Earth, we have no choice but to radically shift the way we treat her. When we spew our toxic wastes and pesticides into the air, water and soil, we poison our mother and ourselves. When we frack our wells, we contaminate the air and water on which we depend. When we clear-cut forests, dump mine tailings into rivers and lakes and convert wilderness into farms or suburbs, we undermine the ability of the biosphere to provide the necessities of life.

Is this how we treat our source of survival? Until all of society understands this and then acts on that understanding, we will not be able to act fully to protect a future for ourselves.

Astrology and how it affects our daily life: Uranus retrograde July 26 and turns Direct December 25 2015

Planet Glyphs Button - Uranus Stock Photo - 350564

Uranus turns Direct on December 25 2015:

Influence will affect us all but will have a stronger pull on those with personal Aquarius in their charts and perhaps to lessor degree those with a strong Leo influence.

As this planet (of shock and change) gains speed, some of us may find we need to express ourselves, as we realize we can make changes to our world and that we don’t have to be the “victim”… Some of us may feel restless, with a desire to shake things up, perhaps even be a little rebellious.. Other’s may feel it’s time to take risks and chances, which may have quite the pull on those with a Leo influence or more than one sign in the 5th house.. As always, take care when involving yourself in risk taking. It’s time to listen to our own instincts, perhaps acting on them, instead of waiting for permission to do so or allowing ourselves to be pulled along the path of another..

  • Astrological “Event” Uranus Retrograde
  • Date: July 26 to December 26 2015
  • Time: 6:38 am (ET) 3:38 (PT)
  • House (equal): 7th Relationships
  • Sign: Aries

While this astrological “event” will have a slight effect on all of us, it will have a stronger and longer lasting effect on those who have the following in their charts:

  • Sun in Aquarius
  • Uranus in Aquarius
  • Ascendant in Aquarius
  • Mid-heaven in Aquarius
  • Uranus in 7th or 11th house
  • Sun in Libra (lesser effect)
  • Sun in Leo (lesser effect)
  • Any aspects to Uranus

What does it all mean?

  • Uranus is the planet of shock, change and rebellion. He rules Aquarius.
  • Retrograde, Uranus “appears” to be going backwards from the earth’s perspective. A good time to re-do, re-invent re-assess.
  • Relationships will be in focus over the next few months, all of them.
  • Finding out which relationships work and which don’t is going to be the assignment. It may be a challenging time for those in bad or negative relationships as they begin to recognize they are in such relationships.
  • A shake up is needed in all and any area’s of life that are not satisfying, uplifting or positive. This “shake up” may begin slowly and pick up momentum as the months go by. Making way for action once Uranus turns direct again.
  • While this may be a somewhat unsettling time for some, it is wise to take heed of the need for change, and use this time to make ready for that change.
  • Getting our emotions sorted is the key to understanding what we need to do next. This can be done by re-assessing our future plans and taking a good long look at what we want and where we are heading.
  • Take time to seek out trusted folk who are ready to listen and who give unbiased sound advice.
  • Be cautious of other’s who, once they are aware of unsettling circumstances, may try to take advantage and direct you towards avenue’s only fit for their own personal agenda’s.
  • Where your morals and ethics are concerned stay true to yourself, as you invite much needed change into your life
  • In essence this could be a Shake up and somewhat challenging period for many of us… don’t be shy, “change is as good as a rest” …
