SGC Admin: From our inbox to you... :) Dawn James, author and vibrational coach offers a few of her favorite home made summer drink recipe’s… a delicious way to cool down & infuse the body with good things… :) Thanks for sharing Dawn… :)
When the temperature starts heating up its important we stay hydrated and cool. Over the years I have experimented with a variety of fruits and spices from our garden to make summer drinks. Today I am sharing my favorite homemade summer drinks- that I hope will quench your thirst!
Homemade Ice Tea
This one is a classic summer drink. You can use a variety of fresh herbs a lemon or two and a touch of raw honey (for those of you with a sweet tooth!)
Why homemade? Because most store bought counterparts have a tremendous amount of sugar and may contain artificial ingredients.
Recipe for Peppermint Ice Tea:
Steep peppermint tea in water for 30 minutes (two tea bags per litre of water).
Add one tablespoon of honey per lite, add lemon slices and chill. Fresh Juice
What can compare to a fresh squeezed orange or grapefruit? Fresh fruit juices are full of enzymes, vitamins and minerals and delivers instant energy directly into our cells.
You can hand juice or invest in a juicing machine.
Coconut Water
One of the best ways to replenish electrolytes that we lose from sweating, breathing or a hot day at the beach… is to drink coconut water. Did you know young green coconut water contains more potassium and less calories than regular sports drinks? Coconut water not only hydrates our bodies but also replenishes essential minerals and antioxidants.
Water with Fruit or Herbs
Yes good old fashioned H2O with some creative additions such as berries, mint, cucumber or lemon. Lemons have an alkalizing affect on the body; Mint is a natural stimulant and energizes the body; Berries for vitamin C – an antioxidant ; Cucumbers – thanks to its vitamin B content – helps reduce stress.

In astrology, the moon is connected to our emotions and reactions… how we are feeling on a given day may well be influenced by the sign that is visiting the moon… Each sign stays with the moon for up to 2.5 days…. :)
The Moon Void-off-Course:
There are times throughout the month when the moon isn’t fully immersed in any sign… this is when we say the moon is Void off Course… and when this occurs, we may feel “foggy” and “unfocused” … We may not be sure how we are truly feeling about a situation or a person…. Therefore it is not recommended that we make long-term commitments or important decision’s while the moon is Void off Course…. However there are 4 signs in the zodiac which may prove positive during the Void-off-Course moon…
Good for Void-Off-Course Moon:
These v/c signs may prove to be quite productive times.
Cancer
Taurus
Sagittarius
Pisces…
Opportunity Periods (thanks to astrologer Jim Shawvan):
There are other periods throughout the month that are known as opportunity periods, when it can prove to be a positive time for most people, however if you have challenging aspects happening within your own chart you may not be able to make use of opportunity periods.
Thanks to Jim Shawvan present day astrologer, William Lilly 17th century astrologer and Llewellyn’s Daily Planetary Guide for opportunity periods.
Full Moon occurs on: July 31 2015 6:43 am (ET) 3:43 am (PT)
Moon Sign: Aquarius at 5:40 pm (ET) 2:40 pm (PT)
Moon Phase: 2nd
Void-off-Course: August 1 6:02 pm (ET) 3:02 pm (PT) to 6:36 pm (ET) 3:36 pm (PT). Aquarius Moon v/c is not one of the 4 “good signs” Try not to make any important decisions or commitments now.
House(s): 4th: 4th house of domestic and family affairs:
Opportunity Period: None
What does it all mean?
Aquarius is “different”, he is ahead of his time and capable of thinking and “seeing” things in a different way then the rest of us.
Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, the planet of shock and chaos.
We may feel may inclined towards kindness, especially on a “global” level or towards animals, the elderly and those worse off.
Getting along with our four-legged friends may be on the top of our list now.
The time may be right to understand/learn about new technology, such as a new phone, tablet or t.v.
This moon period can bring out the rebel in us, prompting us to try new things and or meet new people.
Be careful not to break tradition just because one feels like being different or as some may see it, “difficult” Teenagers may feel the need to express themselves, so parents be for warned.
Personal freedom and individuality is very important now. Partner’s try not to restrict each other’s movements. Parent’s it might be a tight line you walk now. Employer’s give your “worker’s” a little “slack”.
Being organized might not be as easy now, so expect weird schedule’s and interrupted meetings…
Changes may be in the air…
Could be a good time for inventions… Perhaps keeping them to paper until after the 25 is advisable if the goal is for the invention to work.
This moon sign will have more of an effect on those who have the following in their charts. And too will those with strong Cancer or Leo placing in their charts.
In the 5th house: Discipline could be in focus with children and pets. This could be a good time to give up gambling and to structure our lifestyle.
The Full Moon is traditionally the time when we finish up our projects and tasks, however this is best done on a Full Moon in the 4th (last) phase. July 31 full moon falls in the 2nd phase. Keep working on your projects and tasks, those that get done will be a bonus. :) The full moon in Aquarius will amplify the effects noted above.
Watch for being unreasonable to the point of silliness or rudeness
Personal freedom is must for some of us… however, take care not to deliberately hurt another to get it.
For those facing challenging personal relationship or job issues, this could be the time to break free of them, ask for help if you need it.
Our causes may become more urgent, especially humanitarian ones.
Time to make changes if you dare… :) Uranus is retrograde right now, (Uranus rules Aquarius) This could be the perfect time for some folk to get out of a rut, do something new and exciting, even make a change of residence, job or view-point.
Being stubborn has its good points, however, being stubborn because one feels like being different may cause no end of upset that wasn’t intended… choose your “battles” with care..
Be ready for just about anything during this full moon, one never knows where Uranus may decide to go…
SGC Admin: We are re-posting the following from 2014 :)
Blessed Lammas to you from SGC
From our inbox to you… Check out rituals for the upcoming Lammas with Patti Wigington
Have you started planning your Lammas rituals yet?
Depending on your individual spiritual path, there are many different ways you can celebrate Lammas, but typically the focus is on either the early harvest aspect, or the celebration of the Celtic god Lugh. It’s the season when the first grains are ready to be harvested and threshed, when the apples and grapes are ripe for the plucking, and we’re grateful for the food we have on our tables.
Here are a few rituals you may want to think about trying — and remember, any of them can be adapted for either a solitary practitioner or a small group, with just a little planning ahead.
August 1 is known as Lammas, or Lughnasadh. This is a day to celebrate the beginnings of the harvest, when the grain and corn is gathered. It’s also a time, in some traditions, of honoring Lugh, the Celtic craftsman god. Here are some ideas for dressing up your altar for your Lammas (Lughnasadh) celebration!Setting Up Your Lammas Altar
Lammas is a time of celebrating the beginning of the harvest, a theme seen often in the sacrifice of the grain god. Make a sacrifice of your own this Lammas, with this bread ritual that marks the beginning of the harvest. Lammas Bread Sacrifice Ritual
August 1 is known in many Pagan traditions as Lammas, and is a celebration of the early harvest. However, in some paths, it’s a day to honor Lugh, the Celtic god of craftsmanship. Celebrate your own talents and skills on Lughnasadh by honoring Lugh with a rite that can be held for a group or a solitary practitioner. Ritual to Honor Lugh of the Many Skills
Lammas is the early harvest Sabbat, and celebrates the crops of late summer and early autumn. If you wish to honor the Harvest Mother aspect of the Goddess and celebrate the cycle of life and rebirth, hold this Lammas rite either with a group or as a solitary practitioner. SGC Admin: Each summer Bethesda House offers camps for kids who have been or who have witnessed domestic abuse… These same kids need new school supplies when they go back in the fall… Anyone who is a parent readying their kids for a new school year knows this is an added expense and it can be stressful… This is no different for the parent of a child fleeing domestic abuse… except for them it can be the last straw or that extra “thing” that makes life all the harder…
Jaki MacKinnon Executive director of Bethesda House is asking for the public’s help… so the kids who have seen the worst of human nature can at least begin the school year the same as any other kid… In this way, we can help the child and the parent, giving them hope and a sense of belonging…
Bethesda House is asking for donations of the following:
