SGC Admin: Two (Veterinarian) New links and connections added to our links and connections page:

SGC Admin: Recently we had to do one of the toughest things we have ever had to do… and that was putting our beloved furry family member Sky to sleep…

Sky was 18 years old and she had graced our home for 16 of those years… She was a beautiful long-haired grey cat who we “rescued” from an overly affectionate/zealous toddler… Sky was a one family cat… meaning, as is typical of some cats, she only loved her immediate family members, if you were a visitor to our home, you may not have seen her, or if you had, she may have hissed at you or just ignored you… Yet with us, we couldn’t have asked for a more loving and affectionate family member..

As Sky grew older, we began to see her health gradually getting worse… she began to pee outside of the litter box, (although she always tried to pee by it and not in odd places) towards the end we would place her in the box to go..she sat in odd places, didn’t want to sit on a lap, and wanted only her bed, … And finally she stopped eating… we have all been there with our fur babies… that point where we have to decide what is better for our loved one… we didn’t have a regular vet for sky, and we weren’t overly impressed with the last place we had taken her… And so when the time got closer, we began a search… a search for a caring veterinarian office, who hopefully wouldn’t charge too high a price for what was needed…

We found two such caring veterinarians, one is a mobile veterinarian service the other is a veterinarian office who also offers mobile services.

The one we ended up using was the veterinarian office, because that’s who was available for the time we needed… The procedure was explained to us gently, we were encouraged to be with Sky at the end … and we felt comfortable enough with all of the staff to allow our tears to flow freely…. We opted to bring Sky home, and she was lovingly placed in her box by the staff, who had placed her curled up just like she was sleeping…

Amanda from the mobile service, was so compassionate in her emails to us that we know, had we used her services she would have been just as caring and kind.

In Sky’s memory we are happy to share the following contact information with you...

The Moon and Astrology: How it affects our daily life… Transiting Moon in Virgo November 2015

The Moon and Astrology

&

HOW IT AFFECTS OUR DAILY LIVES…

In astrology, the moon is connected to our emotions and reactions… how we are feeling on a given day may well be influenced by the sign that is visiting the moon… Each sign stays with the moon for up to 2.5 days…. :)

The Moon Void-off-Course:

There are times throughout the month when the moon isn’t fully immersed in any sign… this is when we say the moon is Void off Course… and when this occurs, we may feel “foggy” and “unfocused” … We may not be sure how we are truly feeling about a situation or a person…. Therefore it is not recommended that we make long-term commitments or important decision’s while the moon is Void off Course…. However there are 4 signs in the zodiac which may prove positive during the Void-off-Course moon…

Good for Void-Off-Course Moon:

These v/c signs may prove to be quite productive times.

  • Cancer
  • Taurus
  • Sagittarius
  • Pisces…

Opportunity Periods  (thanks to astrologer Jim Shawvan):

There are other periods throughout the month that are known as opportunity periods, when it can prove to be a positive time for most people, however if you have challenging aspects happening within your own chart you may not be able to make use of opportunity periods.

Thanks to Jim Shawvan present day astrologer, William Lilly 17th century astrologer and Llewellyn’s Daily Planetary Guide for opportunity periods.

  • Date: November 4  to 7 2015
  • Moon Sign: Virgo 9:22 pm (ET) 6:22 pm (PT)
  • Moon Phase: 4th (Moves into the 4th on this day)
  • Void-off-Course: November 7 @ 7:47 am (ET) 4:47 am (PT) to 10:14  am (ET) 7:14 am (PT): Virgo Moon v/c is not one of the 4 “good signs” Try not to make any important decisions or commitments now. Rest if you are feeling tired or a cold coming on.
  • House(s): 11th: 11th house of teamwork, networking, gadgets and humanitarian behavior.
  • Opportunity Period:  November 7 3:25 am (ET) 12:25 am to November 7 @ 7:47 am (ET) 4:47 am (PT) Most of us will be sleeping through this one, but for those that aren’t you might get some things organized during this time.. (or cleaned) ;).

What does it all mean?

  • Virgo is all about the details, so be prepared to see to them or at least have someone else see to them for you, you will feel better :)
  • Try not to worry about things you have no control over, especially things that might not ever happen… Because Virgo “see’s” all the details others miss, it’s hard for her not to worry…
  • It’s good to keep busy during a Virgo moon, make lists, tidy, organize, plan, find solutions to problems… a lot can get done now
  • Virgo can be more critical than the rest of the zodiac, but only because she so need things to be “correct” or “perfect”. Try to give yourself and other’s a break over the next couple of days. If you are an employer, be prepared that tasks may not get completed exactly they way you had expected.
  • In the 11th house: Team work and co-operation within group activities is indicted. For some folk being emotionally distant can be easier now.
  • This moon sign will have more of an effect on those who have the following in their charts. And those who have a strong Aquarius or Pisces placement in their charts..
  • Moon in Virgo
  • Sun in Virgo
  • Venus in Virgo
  • Ascendant in Virgo
  • Mid-heaven in Virgo
  • Moon in 6th 11th house
  • Any aspects to the Moon or Mercury.
  • Midheaven in Virgo
  • Ascendant in Virgo

Going on retreat is a time to cocoon so that we may emerge ready to return to our lives with a new perspective.

Occasionally, we need to pause – and step away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. One way to do this is to get away from our daily life and go on retreat. Far more than a vacation, a retreat offers us time to ourselves to rest, heal, reflect, and renew our spirit. It is a time to cocoon so that we may emerge renewed, refreshed, and ready to return to our everyday lives with a new perspective. A retreat gives us time for uninterrupted meditation so that we may go deep within and spend time with ourselves.

A retreat may offer quiet, solitude, and sometimes even silence. Retreats often take place in humble dwellings with simple fare so that our senses may be reawakened to the beauty of unadorned tastes and the sights and sounds of nature. When we spend days in contemplation, we can more easily hear our heart when it speaks to us. We also are able to really listen when a bird sings, deeply breathe in the smell of flowers, grass, or earth, and delight in a soft breeze blowing on our cheek. When we go on retreat we have time to connect to the sacred geometry of a labyrinth, discover epiphanies through asanas, or take a long, reflective walk through the woods where we can give each step our full attention.

Without the pull of deadlines, relationships, the Internet, or other media, we give ourselves time to go deep into our own solitude where we can fully reflect on our joys, sorrows, and fears, owning and releasing them as needed. We may even come to know and understand our life path more deeply. Hopefully, when we return home, we can take a little bit of this time alone back with us and create the space for deep reflection on a daily basis. We also may come back to our life renewed and ready to take on the world. The beauty of going on retreat is that no matter where you go or how long you stay, you’ll always meet yourself when you get there.
