From our inbox to you from: DailyOm on “The Golden Rule” :)

SGC Admin: From our inbox to you from Daily Om “The Golden Rule, Do unto others, as you would have them do unto to you”

A simplistic view of living with others, sharing with others and perhaps, most of all, respecting each other enough to live in peace with one another. :) works for me..;)

The Golden Rule
Do Unto Others

by Madisyn Taylor

When we honor others by following the golden rule, we honor ourselves too.

All over the world, there exists a simple precept that, when followed, has the power to end conflict and banish strife. It is the Golden Rule, a key concept in many philosophies and spiritualities that admonishes us to “do unto others as we would have them do unto us.” Its meaning is clear: treat others only in ways that you would want to be treated. However, the golden rule is not always easy to follow. It can be a challenge to honor others as we wish to be honored. Yet, when we do so, we bestow a gift of loving kindness on our fellow human beings. And, in honoring others, we honor ourselves.

It is as uncomplicated a tenet as one could wish for. When we live by it, harming another person becomes nearly impossible. The Golden Rule is rooted in pure empathy and does not compel us to perform any specific act. Rather, it gently guides us to never let our actions toward others be out of harmony with our own desires. The Golden Rule asks us to be aware of the effect our words and actions may have on another person and to imagine ourselves in their place. It calls on us to ask ourselves how we would feel if what we were about to do were directed toward us. And yet this rule invites us to do more than not harm others. It suggests that we look for opportunities to behave toward others in the same ways that we would want others to act toward us. Showing compassion, being considerate of others, caring for the less fortunate, and giving generously are what can result when you follow the Golden Rule.

Adhering to the Golden Rule whenever possible can have a positive effect on the world around you because kindness begets kindness. In doing so, you generate a flow of positive energy that enfolds everyone you encounter in peace, goodwill, and harmony.

  • Yom Kipper: Jewish Holiday “Yom Kippur is the tenth day of the month of Tishrei. According to Jewish tradition, Godinscribes each person’s fate for the coming year into a book, the Book of Life, on Rosh Hashanah, and waits until Yom Kippur to “seal” the verdict. During the Days of Awe, a Jew tries to amend his or her behavior and seek forgiveness for wrongs done against God (bein adam leMakom) and against other human beings (bein adam lechavero). The evening and day of Yom Kippur are set aside for public and private petitions and confessions of guilt (Vidui). At the end of Yom Kippur, one hopes that they have been forgiven by God.” source: Wikipedia

  • “Event”: Fall Equinox
  • Date: September 23 2015
  • Location: Northern Hemisphere
  • What does it Mean: Seasons are opposite on either side of the equator, so the equinox in September is also known as the “autumnal (fall) equinox” in the northern hemisphere. However, in the southern hemisphere, it’s known as the “spring (vernal) equinox”.
  • What happens during an equinox?
The September equinox occurs the moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator – the imaginary line in the sky above the Earth’s equator – from north to south. This happens either on September 22, 23, or 24 every year
  • (Please Click Here for the source of the above explanation) :)

Notes:

  • The Fall Equinox is the first day of fall, we say goodbye to the long days of summer and say hello to the harvest of the season, being aware of our blessings and grateful for the abundance of Mother Earth.
  • Pagans/Wiccans celebrate Mabon at this time, giving thanks for all the wonders of Mother Nature… There are drum circles, rituals and celebrations… :) We must now ready ourselves for the long dark days of the winter to come.

The Moon and Astrology: How it affects our daily life…Transiting Moon in Capricorn…September 2015

The Moon and Astrology

&

HOW IT AFFECTS OUR DAILY LIVES…

In astrology, the moon is connected to our emotions and reactions… how we are feeling on a given day may well be influenced by the sign that is visiting the moon… Each sign stays with the moon for up to 2.5 days…. :)

The Moon Void-off-Course:

There are times throughout the month when the moon isn’t fully immersed in any sign… this is when we say the moon is Void off Course… and when this occurs, we may feel “foggy” and “unfocused” … We may not be sure how we are truly feeling about a situation or a person…. Therefore it is not recommended that we make long-term commitments or important decision’s while the moon is Void off Course…. However there are 4 signs in the zodiac which may prove positive during the Void-off-Course moon…

Good for Void-Off-Course Moon:

These v/c signs may prove to be quite productive times.

  • Cancer
  • Taurus
  • Sagittarius
  • Pisces…

Opportunity Periods  (thanks to astrologer Jim Shawvan):

There are other periods throughout the month that are known as opportunity periods, when it can prove to be a positive time for most people, however if you have challenging aspects happening within your own chart you may not be able to make use of opportunity periods.

Thanks to Jim Shawvan present day astrologer, William Lilly 17th century astrologer and Llewellyn’s Daily Planetary Guide for opportunity periods.

Present Moon Sign/Phase/House:

  • House(s)  4th & 5th:  In the 4th house of domestic affairs and family dealings. In the 5th house of creative pursuits, entertainment, love affairs, speculation, children and pets.
  • Opportunity Period: None

What does it all mean?

  • Capricorn is business, duty and discipline. She is ruled by Saturn, the planet of restrictions.
  • We may be more in tune with our work/career or vocational direction.
  • Change may be more challenging to deal with, and we may be resistant towards it…
  • Being disciplined towards our “duties/chores” may be easier to achieve.
  • Dealings with the elderly may be in focus.
  • Dealings with “authority” types, such as teachers, principles, supervisor’s may be in focus. Being respectful of such positions may help to alleviate tension.
  • This could be a good time to get mundane business tasks out-of-the-way
  • If you have been waiting to get a “chaotic” situation under control, now may be a good time to do it.
  • Rules and regulations may be in focus, and depending on how you deal with these, it could be a favorable time or a stressful one.
  • Good time to watch, listen and learn
  • We may find we are looking at our “worth” now, including the salary we get paid.
  • We are happy to work for our “keep”, knowing we are doing a good job.
  • In the 4th house: Focus may be on the domestic front, we could be getting serious about renovations. Our family members may be more demanding, especially elder family members, who may need your guidance now.
  • In the 5th house: Have fun, love your lover, take care with emotional decisions especially those concerning your finances. Time spent with pets or children could be rewarding and enjoyable.
  •  This moon sign will have more of an effect on those who have the following in their charts. And those who have a strong Gemini or Cancer placing in their charts.
  • Moon in Capricorn
  • Sun in Capricorn
  • Saturn in Capricorn
  • Moon in 4th house
  • Moon in the 5th house
  • Moon in Cancer
  • Moon in Leo
  • Any aspects to the Moon or Saturn
