The Regional Municipality of Durham Region,Forests Ontario and Raw Materials Company have all come together to encourage the planting of trees throughout the region… Collectively they hope to reach the goal set out in the Durham Community Climate Change Local Action Plan.
On June 3, Durham council endorsed Raw Marterials Comapany as a corporate champion for the tree program.
The company will now donate $1:10 for every kilogram of single-use batteries recycled at participating locations to Forests Ontario to plant trees throughout Durham Region.
If you’ve ever been to a social gathering where you’ve felt awkward and uncomfortable, chances are you are not alone. While social gatherings can be very enjoyable, especially when we are surrounded by people whose company we enjoy, there are social events that we attend where we sometimes find ourselves wishing we were someplace else. Such occasions can sometimes be the cause of much anxiety and self-consciousness. We may even feel like everyone else is having a good time except for us. Yet the truth is that everyone has felt shy and awkward on occasion. One of the best ways to overcome self-consciousness or get past your feelings of shyness at social gatherings is to focus on the people around you. If you can remember that other people might also be feeling awkward or shy, you might find the thought of speaking to them less intimidating or overwhelming.
The next time there is a social event you feel nervous about attending, you may want to try this exercise: Spend some time with your eyes closed and breathe deeply. When you feel ready, create your own zone of comfort by visualizing yourself surrounded in a warm white light that is protective yet accepting of others. Imagine people at the event being drawn to you because of the open and warm feelings that you are radiating. When you arrive at the event, take a moment to spread this same light of loving acceptance to everyone around you. Smile and greet people warmly. Try going up to someone who is standing alone and introduce yourself. When you radiate acceptance, openness, and receptivity, people can’t help but respond to you in kind.
Focusing on how we can make other people at a social gathering feel at ease can help us forget about our own insecurities. In the process, we end up making the very connections that we seek. The next time you attend a social gathering, invite people to join you in your zone of comfort that you have so lovingly and intentionally created. Let yourself enjoy being encircled in the warmth of their friendships.
SGC Admin: This is an important Draft for everyone, including the chickens and turkey’s that provide us with a food source…
It’s important that our Chickens and Turkey’s are treated with care and compassion, and that they have a “quality” lifespan and a humane demise… Now we have a chance to speak up and step forward … :)
Improvement in the welfare of chickens & turkeys beginning with a shift in lighting regimens, providing a minimum of 4 hours of dark/rest time for the birds. (up from 0 to 1 hour). CFHS feels birds should be given up to seven hours per day.
New requirements for immediate vet care for sick & injured birds
Human Euthanasia.
CFHS would like to see included in the finale draft:
Feeding of the birds every day to relieve their chronic hunger, but first the genetic selection that causes their massive appetite and rapid growth needs to shift.
Agreed upon limits on lameness injury & mortality rates on Canadian bird farms are needed in order to increase the industry’s humane standards.
Hot blade trimming of beaks and toes needs to be phased out in favour of infrared trimming, which is much less invasive & less painful.
A decrease in the number of birds housed per square meter.
Birds who are not suffering, yet are killed anyway should be called humane killing and not euthanasia.
Who can give their input:The General Public: Industry:Stakeholders: Breeders:

Reuse days take place once per month from now until October.
In astrology, the moon is connected to our emotions and reactions… how we are feeling on a given day may well be influenced by the sign that is visiting the moon… Each sign stays with the moon for up to 2.5 days…. :)
The Moon Void-off-Course:
There are times throughout the month when the moon isn’t fully immersed in any sign… this is when we say the moon is Void off Course… and when this occurs, we may feel “foggy” and “unfocused” … We may not be sure how we are truly feeling about a situation or a person…. Therefore it is not recommended that we make long-term commitments or important decision’s while the moon is Void off Course…. However there are 4 signs in the zodiac which may prove positive during the Void-off-Course moon…
Good for Void-Off-Course Moon:
These v/c signs may prove to be quite productive times.
Cancer
Taurus
Sagittarius
Pisces…
Opportunity Periods (thanks to astrologer Jim Shawvan):
There are other periods throughout the month that are known as opportunity periods, when it can prove to be a positive time for most people, however if you have challenging aspects happening within your own chart you may not be able to make use of opportunity periods.
Thanks to Jim Shawvan present day astrologer, William Lilly 17th century astrologer and Llewellyn’s Daily Planetary Guide for opportunity periods.

House(s): 4th & 5th: 4th house of domestic and family affairs: The 5th house relates to creativity/entertainment, pets and children:
Opportunity Period: October 20 4:32 pm (ET) 1:32 pm (PT) to October 23 @12:22 am (ET) October 22 @ 9:22 pm (PT). A fairly long OP, in which some of us may feel pressured into “performing” or making commitments… Take extra care that you fully understand all the “fine print”.. and if it’s doesn’t feel right don’t do it… And if you don’t want to “perform” then don’t. :)
What does it all mean?
Aquarius is “different”, he is ahead of his time and capable of thinking and “seeing” things in a different way then the rest of us.
Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, the planet of shock and chaos.
We may feel may inclined towards kindness, especially on a “global” level or towards animals, the elderly and those worse off.
Getting along with our four-legged friends may be on the top of our list now.
The time may be right to understand/learn about new technology, such as a new phone, tablet or t.v.
This moon period can bring out the rebel in us, prompting us to try new things and or meet new people.
Be careful not to break tradition just because one feels like being different or as some may see it, “difficult” Teenagers may feel the need to express themselves, so parents be for warned.
Personal freedom and individuality is very important now. Partner’s try not to restrict each other’s movements. Parent’s it might be a tight line you walk now. Employer’s give your “worker’s” a little “slack”.
Being organized might not be as easy now, so expect weird schedule’s and interrupted meetings…
Changes may be in the air…
Could be a good time for inventions… Perhaps keeping them to paper until after the 25 is advisable if the goal is for the invention to work.
This moon sign will have more of an effect on those who have the following in their charts. And too will those with strong Cancer or Leo placing in their charts.
In the 5th house: Discipline could be in focus with children and pets. This could be a good time to give up gambling and to structure our lifestyle.
