The Moon and Astrology: How it affects our daily life… Transiting NEW Moon in Libra & Partial Solar Eclipse … September 2015:

The Moon and Astrology

&

HOW IT AFFECTS OUR DAILY LIVES…

In astrology, the moon is connected to our emotions and reactions… how we are feeling on a given day may well be influenced by the sign that is visiting the moon… Each sign stays with the moon for up to 2.5 days…. :)

The Moon Void-off-Course:

There are times throughout the month when the moon isn’t fully immersed in any sign… this is when we say the moon is Void off Course… and when this occurs, we may feel “foggy” and “unfocused” … We may not be sure how we are truly feeling about a situation or a person…. Therefore it is not recommended that we make long-term commitments or important decision’s while the moon is Void off Course…. However there are 4 signs in the zodiac which may prove positive during the Void-off-Course moon…

Good for Void-Off-Course Moon:

These v/c signs may prove to be quite productive times.

  • Cancer
  • Taurus
  • Sagittarius
  • Pisces…

Opportunity Periods  (thanks to astrologer Jim Shawvan):

There are other periods throughout the month that are known as opportunity periods, when it can prove to be a positive time for most people, however if you have challenging aspects happening within your own chart you may not be able to make use of opportunity periods. astrologer and Llewellyn’s Daily Planetary Guide for opportunity periods.

Present Moon Sign/Phase/House:

Zodiac signs - Libra Stock Vector - 40977561

  • Date: September 13 to September 16 2015
  • Moon Sign: Libra 10:41 pm (ET) 7:41 pm (PT)
  • Moon Phase: 4th moves into the 1st on Sept 14
  • Void-off-Course: September 16 @ 12:22 am (ET) September 15 @ 9:22 pm (PT) to 11:43 am (ET) 8:43 am (PT) Moon v/c in Libra is not one of the 4 void off course “good signs”
  • House: 12th & 1st: 12th house of our psyche, institutions, secrets, fantasy and illusion. 1st house of the self.
  • Opportunity Period: September 15 2:28 pm (ET) 11:28 am (PT) to September 16 @ 11:43 am (ET) 8:43 am (PT): Get cracking with anything begun before September 9… you should see some positive progress.

What does it all mean?

  • Libra has a need for balance, indicating this moon period may be an ideal time to implement some into our daily lives.
  • A desire for justice may be present, dealing with issues that have upset our sense of justice may prove to be productive.
  • Diplomacy is likely to be more apparent during the next few days, and may be a good time to bring up that topic you have been putting on the back burner.
  • Hesitation is probably going to raise its head, we may see many sides of a story and find it difficult to make up our minds.
  • Difficulty in making commitments or long-term decisions, because we can’t make up our minds. If this is the case perhaps wait a few days until the move has moved out of Libra.
  • Libra is happiest when in a relationship or partnership. Indicating this may be a good time to begin one. :)
  • Co-operation should be in the air, making this an ideal time to make plans with others.
  • May be a good time to improve our appearance and surroundings.
  • May be great time to go bargain hunting,
  • In the 12 house, we may feel more inclined to spend time alone. For some of us it may mean a trip to the hospital, to visit someone or for a procedure. Secrets may be created or affairs of the heart fantasized about, take care what you tell who during the next few days, and be careful to forget the secrets you are told.
  • In the 1st house, (moves into the 1st house on September 14 @ 8:22 am (ET) 5:22 am (PT)) This house is ruled by Aries, which is the polar sign to Libra. We should be able to get our point across now, at the very least allow folk to know who we are feeling. Aries “bravery” and Libra’s diplomacy are a good combination as it’s unlikely we will go over board when expressing ourselves emotionally… If we keep a cool head on our shoulders we can bring in the assistance and support we need… ;)
  • This moon sign will affect us all but will have more of an effect on those who have the following in their charts.
    • Moon in Libra,
    • Sun in Libra,
    • Venus in Libra
    • Venus in Pisces
    • Moon in 12th house,
    • Moon in 7th house,
    • Any aspects to the Moon or Venus

NEW MOON…

The new moon will add to the influences listed above. And While the moon becomes “exact” in the sign of Virgo, the influence will be that of the sign of Libra. Virgo will still be about, indicating a good eye for detail when thinking of expressing, or beginning a new project. Traditionally, it is a good time to begin new projects, relationships, studies, jobs, school etc when the moon is her newest… however, the absolutely best time is when the moon is new in the 1st phase, where she will be on September 14, it is suggested we wait until then to begin “anew”. The transiting moon will also be moving into the 1st house (Equal house system) on this day, indicating that projects, studies, vocational activities began under this influence are likely to be focused on ourselves.

Partial Solar Eclipse September 13 2015

  • This partial eclipse will be seen “southern Africa, Antarctica and the ocean between them”. Please Click Here to find out more about this partial eclipse with “earthsky.org”
  • Some folk may be more affected by this phenomenon.. For those folk anything “major event” happening in your life around the time of this partial eclipse will likely last anywhere from 3 to 6 months…

Present Moon Sign/Phase/House:

Zodiac sign of Virgo stylized with beautiful girl portrait Stock Vector - 27528837
http://www.123rf.com: copyright : Anna Kniazeva
  • Date: September 11 to September 13 2015
  • Moon Sign: Virgo 9:56 am (ET) 6:56 am (PT)
  • Moon Phase: 4th
  • Void-off-Course: September  13 @ 10:08 pm (ET) 7:08 (PT) To 10:41 pm (ET) 7:41 pm (PT). Virgo Moon v/c is not one of the 4 “good signs” Try not to make any important decisions or commitments now. Rest if you are feeling tired or a cold coming on.
  • House(s): 11th & 12th: 11th house of teamwork, networking, gadgets and humanitarian behavior. 12th house of the unknown, intuitions, hospitals. The 1st house of the self.
  • Opportunity Period: None

What does it all mean?

  • Virgo is all about the details, so be prepared to see to them or at least have someone else see to them for you, you will feel better :)
  • Try not to worry about things you have no control over, especially things that might not ever happen… Because Virgo “see’s” all the details others miss, it’s hard for her not to worry…
  • It’s good to keep busy during a Virgo moon, make lists, tidy, organize, plan, find solutions to problems… a lot can get done now
  • Virgo can be more critical than the rest of the zodiac, but only because she so need things to be “correct” or “perfect”. Try to give yourself and other’s a break over the next couple of days. If you are an employer, be prepared that tasks may not get completed exactly they way you had expected.
  • In the 11th house: Team work and co-operation within group activities is indicted. For some folk being emotionally distant can be easier now.
  • In the 12th house: (moves into the 12th house Sept 11 @ 7:29 pm (ET) 4:29 pm (PT). Use your intuition when it speaks, be careful who you share your secrets with and time spent in solitude with quiet relaxing music may be more appealing than crowds or loud noises right now.
  • In the 1st house: Support is close at hand and will be offered if we remain sensitive where the feelings of others is concerned. However, come on too “strong” and run the risk of alienating the very folk who are ready to assist you.
  • This moon sign will have more of an effect on those who have the following in their charts. And those who have a strong Aquarius or Pisces placement in their charts..
  • Moon in Virgo
  • Sun in Virgo
  • Venus in Virgo
  • Ascendent in Virgo
  • Midheaven in Virgo
  • Moon in 1st, 6th or 12th house
  • Any aspects to the Moon or Mercury.

From our inbox to you … From the David Suzuki Foundation & HomeGrown Park Crawl… happening September 27 2015..

SGC Admin: From our inbox to you From The David Suzuki Foundation…

Graphic used from the Homegrown Park Crawl website

We’ve had a lot of fun this summer, transforming yards into rain gardens, railways into butterflyways and planting more than a dozen butterfly-friendly canoe gardens in schoolyards, churches and cafes across the city. But this month may be our busiest yet!

On Sunday, September 27, we invite you to join Toronto’s most joyous musical parade, the third annual Homegrown Park Crawl. The Park Crawl will once again feature great food, lively music and fun activities — plus a few surprises — as we crawl along the former path of the Garrison Creek.

Park Crawl food tickets sold out each year, so we encourage you to get yours online in advance. Tickets are now available online, and until September 17 you can get five tickets for $20.

Buy earlybird food tickets

To whet your appetite, this Friday, September 11, come check out Homegrown Pizza in the Park. It may be the last pizza night of the year, so be sure not to miss it. Pizzeria Libretto’s first slices will start coming out of the oven at 6 p.m.

Be sure to stay tuned for details about more events and plantings taking place this month by joining our Homegrown Facebook page.
