Town of Whitby Relocation of Lynde House Dates and Road Routes

SGC Admin: A long time Whitby home is being relocated this weekend and will move along Cochrane, Dundas and Brock streets…

To see if and when you or your business may be affected please check the dates and routes below… (Sorry, I don’t see any times mentioned along with the dates). Please keep in mind it’s probably a slow process moving a house along roads… and patience is likely needed… :)

The Lynde house, currently located at Cullen Central Park will be relocated to 900 Brock Street at Burns Street over a period of 3 days:

  • Friday November 29 2013: 
  • Lynde House will move from Cullen Central Park at Taunton road south on Cochrane Street to Dundas Street West. 
  • Saturday November 30 2013: 
  • Lynde House will be temporarily situated on municipal property at Northwest corner of Cochrane and Dundas street west. 
  • Sunday December 1 2013: 
  • Lynde House will move along Dundas Street east to Brock Street and Brock Street south to Burns Street.

Town of Whitby: Appointment of Citizens to Boards and Committees vacancies

SGC Admin: Heads up citizens of Whitby, :) Whitby Council is currently accepting applications from residents interested in the following committees: It’s a great way to get involved in the community, and if stress levels are kept to a minimum due to everyone working well with each other, it’s probably also very good for the soul… :)

Harbour Day Committee:

  • Role: To oversee operation of the annual Harbour Day event: Identify sources of funding, sponsorship and grant opportunities: Support marketing and promotional plans: Encourage participation in the event via volunteers and community based organizations: Report findings and consultations with council is required: 
  • Meetings: Harbour Day committee meetings are held on the 3rd (third) Thursday of each month at 2:00 pm: Additional meetings may be added as required. 
  • Vacancies: Currently 2 spots are open: 
  • Term: Ending November 30 2014

Whitby In Bloom Committee: 

  • Role: Promote a beautiful community through education, partnerships and programs focused on horticultural, landscape and environmentally responsible projects. Community members and local business may apply to be appointed to support he planning and implementation of this Town-wide program. 
  • Meetings: Whitby in Bloom meetings are held the 2nd (second) Tuesday of each month at 2:00 pm. Additional meetings will be added as required. 
  • Vacancies: 1 spot available at present
  • Term: Ending November 30 2014

The Deadline for application acceptance for either of these committees is:

The Medicine Wheel is an important symbol in Native culture.

      • The circle represents the cycle of life in that all life travels in a circular path.
      • The spokes in the middle represent the four direction, the four colors of man and the four faces of man, (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual).
