Eco Friendly ideas for Earth day and everyday…..

April 22 is fast approaching. This is Earth Day, celebrated by many by cleaning up parks and neighbourhoods from the debris left over after the winter.

Spring is a fabulous time of year, with sprouts coming up and buds popping out on the trees, but it is also an untidy time of the year as we see the garbage that has been blown about and left unattended over the winter months, being buried and forgotten by the snow.

At this time of the year our behaviour and the way we treat our planet (our home) is more evident to me, as I see the coffee cups, cigarette packs, plastic bags and garbage strewn all over the place. I realize just how much many of us take for granted our blessed way of life. Why is it o.k. to chuck our garbage out of the car window or drop it on the streets as we walk? It’s not o.k. in my book, it’s lazy, shows bad manners and is rude, a complete lack of consideration for anyone else or for the wildlife that gets caught up in it all.

Plastic bags are really bad because they don’t break down like paper products do, and they can pose a threat to wildlife as they explore the bags and get caught up in them, sometimes causing suffocation. I applaud the church groups and all those who get out on Earth day and or the week during and pick up other people’s garbage and help make our streets clean again. But wouldn’t it be wonderful if people just learnt to take their garbage home with them and dispose of it properly?

And so as we celebrate this year, perhaps we should remind one another and our children that our neighbourhoods aren’t land fill sites, as I am reminded of the old saying “one should not sh–, where one eats”  ☺ it’s as simple as that.

Early this morning the sun moved into the sign of Taurus… whew all that energy from Aries can now slow down a bit.

Those born with the sign of Taurus are fixed earth signs, they usually have loads of patience but don’t be fooled by their “easy going” ways, they can be the most stubborn of the signs and once you have out worn their patience watch out as you see emerge a strong solid force not easy to be reckoned with.

You guys and gals are responsible, reliable, stead fast and true. Hard workers with a reputation of someone who never quits, you are practical and honest (perhaps sometimes to a fault). You are ruled by Venus who also rules Libra, and Venus loves luxury, so while you may be practical of mind you won’t say no to fine wine, good food and luxurious surroundings.

You value your space and need peace and quiet and you like to have a routine you can stick to. Thanks guys and girls for keeping us in check and working so hard to provide….you are reminded however to be careful of falling into a rut, which is easier for you guys and gals to do then most.

Our government representatives committed to phasing out these subsidies back in 2009, but since then they’ve given more than $2 billion to polluting industries. Why are they all talk and no-show?

Ontario proposing changes to liquor laws

Loosing up the Ontario Liquor Laws??? !!!

It is my understanding this would include allowing “All inclusive vacation packages in Canada” (not sure what this means, please feel free to update me).

At present beer tents are set up at events restricting the consumption of alcoholic beverages to a particular area. The new “looser” laws would allow patrons to walk around the event with alcohol in hand.

That’s about all I know on this subject for the time being… please feel free to comment and update me….. :)
