Many times in discussion of modern Paganism, it’s easy for us to overlook a valuable source of information – the past. Some of our not-so-distant ancestors practised various forms of folk magic, and we can learn a lot from those old remedies, charms, and stories. In fact, in many parts of the world, what is often dismissed as superstition is in fact a perfectly valid system of folklore-based practical magic. Today, let’s look at some of the most popular types of folk magic. We’ll talk about animal legend and folklore, weather magic, simple protection rituals, and more.
Animal Folk Magic

After all, if your family’s livelihood and life depended on the success of your crops, weather magic would be a handy thing to know. Read Full Article Search Related Topics: weather magic folklore

SGC Admin: A lovely lady, who is an author and artist Margaret Hefferman sent me an email recently regarding the following event…
If you are into art, music and fun times, check out the following, Margaret will be there with her art work, books and cards for sale… If you see her, please tell her we say hi… :)
Our lovely lady is happy to settle into the sign of Leo for the next few days…
The Full Moon is the perfect time to finish up on projects and get those loose ends sorted out… Traditionally the Full Moon is not the best time to begin new projects… so don’t start a new exercise regime this weekend, chances are you won’t stick with it, wait for the New Moon to pop up again…
The Moon in Leo…Ah Leo… loves to noticed, is drawn to quality over quantity and just loves show biz… even those Leo’s who are quiet and “shy” have these qualities buried within…
And so when the moon becomes full in this sign we are cautioned to watch out forDRAMA… be aware that many of us will feel the need to be recognized and the pull towards attention can be very strong, as our emotional self demands to be noticed….
Our best bet is to pop out to a good show or movie, be in a show or get romantic and dazzle our partners… It’s not a good time to make mountains out of mole hills or create negatives situations or invite negative attention…
This Full Moon is likely to have a stronger effect on those with one or more of the following…
The moon will becomevoid off course on July 23 2013 at 10:00 am until settling into the sign of Pisces at 2:22 pm on July 24.
When the moon is void off course we can be unsure as to how we are really feeling about something or something, it’s therefore advisable to stick to routine tasks at this time. If any legal documents or long-term commitments are in the picture take care to make sure you understand everything that is involved before signing… Delaying important decisions and commitments is highly recommended when the moon is void off course…
Those likely to most affected by this month’s full moon are those with the following:
Sun in Leo: Moon in Leo: Moon or Sun in the 5th house (Creative, children, pets): Aspects to the Sun, Moon or Saturn. Negative aspects may produce challenging times, whereas positive aspects may produce windows of opportunity.
