Where did all the Monarchs go??? :(

SGC Admin: Sitting at backyard party recently, someone asked, “have you seen many monarch butterflies this year?” …. And we realised that we hadn’t.

Well it appears we aren’t alone, David Suzuki and other scientists have also noticed the decline… In fact an 80% decline from previous years, and apparently it’s the worst in 20 years. They don’t really know the reason why, but it could be contributed to the constant “raping” and destroying of native habitats.

We can help out these fabulous butterflies by planting in our gardens and our balconies, the type of flowers they can’t resist… These are nectar producing flowers such as the following…

Milkweed: This is imperative to their survival, less and less is growing.

Wild Bergamot

New England Aster

Black Eyed Susans

Flower Colours: Yellow: Pink:Orange:Purple..

Unity of Durham

SGC Admin: In this day and age it’s so hard to hang on to a belief system. The ones we may have grown up with may not be doing what we need them to any more,  Some have not grown with society and others have grown a little too much… So it’s nice to know there is a place to go and be around like-minded folk in a spiritual non-judgemental environment and perhaps learn a thing or to about who we are.
