Support Group: Weight Loss

The beginning of the new year intices many of us to improve our circumstances and our physical selves, and one way of improving our physical self is by losing those few extra pounds. However, losing weight can be an eternal struggle for some people, but having support from others can truly help. 

TAKE OFF POUNDS SENSIBLY is a not for profit, inexpensive weight-loss support group.

ALATEEN, is an anonymous support group for youths aged 12 to 20 years that are affected by someone else’s drinking.

Alzheimer Society offers Caregiver Support

Those caring for loved ones with Alzheimer face insurmountable challenges. Having a support group to lean on can be the medicine that helps the care giver help the patient. 

The Alzheimer Society of Durham Region offers such a support group. 

Date: The 2nd (second) Wednesday of every month: 

Time: 10 am to noon

Date: The 4th (Fourth) Wednesday of every month.

Time: 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Community Care Durham is looking for Volunteers

 

Community Care Durham urgently needs volunteers to deliver meals for the Meals on Wheels Programs in Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa. 

Volunteers are needed for one and a half hours between 10:30 am and 1 pm, meals are delivered Monday through Friday. 

Community Care Durham also needs volunteers to drive clients to medical appointments.

CNIB Looking for Volunteers…

 

CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind) is looking for volunteers to fill various positions (especially driving positions)  in Durham area. One of the goals of the CNIB is to assist those who are blind (partially and completely) to live as independently as possible. 

Mileage expenses incurred by volunteers will be reimbursed.
