  • Event: Reduced Weekend Go Train Service
  • Time Frame: Friday April 11 2014 7:00 pm to end of day Sunday April 13: Friday April 25 2014 from 7:00 pm to end of day Sunday April 27 2014
  • What this means for the traveller:
  1. Go Trains will only travel to/from Oshawa GO station once per hour:
  2. GO Shuttle buses will operate between Oshawa GO (Platform 5) and Whitby GO (bus loop, on the NORTH side of the station):
  3. GO Bus Route 90 & 91 will hold to connect to the GO shuttle buses:
  4. Regular 30 minute train service will continue between Whitby GO and Union:
  5. If you normally drive to Oshawa GO, consider driving to Whitby instead.

Whitby 2 Me Diversity Art Event

We are looking for creative expressions of diversity in our community illustrated through art. Students of all ages are eligible to participate!

The exhibition, sponsored by Whitby’s Ethno-cultural and Diversity Advisory Committee (EDAC) and the Whitby Public Library, will be on view for the month of May at the Whitby Central Library. A reception will be held on Wednesday, May 7, where attendees can vote for their favourite piece of art and the top three winners will be announced. Winners will also have their works displayed at the Station Gallery.

**Deadline for submissions: April 7, 2014**

Time to Nominate your local “hero”

SGC Admin: Thank goodness for those who have a pure heart, for they are the ones who give unselfishly, who assist others and their community, not for their own reasons, but because of one simply humane trait, compassion…. These are the folk who go beyond their job description, such as the teacher who puts in more hours than they should, the volunteers who assist those who have to go into the hospital, the doctor who is more concerned about the patients emotional state than spouting off medical terms, the person in the store who is gracious and pleasant every time they serve you… the list is endless…..

Metroland Media Group (Durham Region Division), who are our local paper want to recognize those who go that little (or lot) bit further to assist others… You are the ones they need to help make this happen by nominating your “hero”….Your “hero’s” will be featured on MMG website and in the local newspaper, each month a gift of $25:00 Tim Horton card will be given to one lucky “hero” through a draw….
