The New Moon is about beginnings and starts … it’s the time to look forward and put new ideas and projects into motion.

New moon in the 4th quarter. A good time to “draw back” to reflect on past events and what has been (or has not been) accomplished. Time to clear the slate and plan for the New Moon stage.

New Moon in the 1st quarter: Our lady becomes visible 5.5 to 12 hours after ‘her birth” (the time she becomes new) she is delicate but strong, eager to start anew almost with the innocence of a babe she wants to begin again and explore all that she can. This is the absolute best time to begin your new projects.

Although this month’s new moon falls in the sign of Virgo, there may still be some Leo overtones about… :)

New moon in Virgo: Virgo is all about detail, which can sometimes incite worry where it’s not needed. If you are beginning a new project, or planning for the future, don’t be too hard on yourself it everything doesn’t seem to be perfect… You will see the flaws that need fixing, but don’t go crazy, sometimes mistakes are necessary :)

If you have been wanting to get in shape, or step up your work out routine now is a good time to start, it’s also a good time to begin a diet as our minds wonder to our health and hygiene… Cleaning out that closet or the car may also prove to be fabulous therapy…

New Moon in Leo: Leo loves drama, after all he is ruled by the Sun, without which we could not exist, it’s no wonder those with a Leo influence can sometimes get carried away. :) It’s a good time to start creative projects, and may even prove helpful if auditioning for parts in a play, movie or band. But watch out for the innocence of the new moon combined with the “showiness” and innate pride of the Lion… Remember your p’s and q’s, and that we can’t all be noticed for our talents all of the time… :) have fun, be creative, spend time around animals and children and who knows what one can achieve under this new moon… :)

Moon in the 11th house: House of teams, groups, friends and causes. May be a good time to sign up with a team/group activity (gym). Watch out you don’t get carried away regarding charity events and causes. If starting a new job or volunteer position be open to new friendships.

Moon in the 4th House: You may find spending some time alone in retrospect helpful if contemplating  next phase of your life, but don’t stay there too long… :) Focus may be on the home and private life now.

This months new moon will have more influence on those with the following: Moon in Leo: Moon in Virgo: Sun in Leo: Sun in Virgo: Moon in the 11th house: Ascendant in Virgo: Midheaven in Virgo:

For those who have oppositions or square aspects to the moon, these may prove to be challenging times, if this is the case you are advised not to force issues at this time.  For those who have trines or sextiles, these may prove to be opportune times.

Void off Course Moon

When the moon is void off course we can be unsure as to how we are really feeling about something or someone, it’s therefore advisable to stick to routine tasks at this time. If any legal documents or long-term commitments are in the picture take care to make sure you understand everything that is involved before signing… Delaying important decisions and commitments is highly recommended when the moon is void off course…

Solar Eclipse

A solar eclipse can have an influence on us making things, plans, issues and or situations that happen during an eclipse last longer than usual. Sometime’s it’s unavoidable and plans have to be made, ideas need to be put into motion and there are some people we just can’t get away from or do without…. In these cases patience is strongly advised. Our last Solar Eclipse was on April 29 2014.

Moon in Cancer… :)

How it affects our daily lives…

In astrology, the moon is connected to our emotions and reactions… how we are feeling on a given day may well be influenced by the sign that is visiting the moon… Each sign stays with the moon for up to 2.5 days…. :)

The Moon Void-off-Course:

There are times throughout the month when the moon isn’t fully immersed in any sign… this is when we say the moon is Void off Course… and when this occurs, we may feel “foggy” and “unfocused” … We may not be sure how we are truly feeling about a situation or a person…. Therefore it is not recommended that we make long-term commitments or important decision’s while the moon is Void off Course…. However there are 4 signs in the zodiac which may prove positive during the Void-off-Course moon…

Good for Void-Off-Course Moon:

These v/c signs may prove to be quite productive times.

  • Cancer
  • Taurus
  • Sagittarius
  • Pisces…

Opportunity Periods  (thanks to astrologer Jim Shawvan):

There are other periods throughout the month that are known as opportunity periods, when it can prove to be a positive time for most people, however if you have challenging aspects happening within your own chart you may not be able to make use of opportunity periods.

Thanks to Jim Shawvan present day astrologer, William Lilly 17th century astrologer and Llewellyn’s Daily Planetary Guide for opportunity periods.

Present Moon Sign/Phase/House:

  • Date: Wednesday August 20 2014  to Thursday August 21 2014.
  • Moon Sign:  Cancer: zodiac sign cancer (The Crab) Stock Photo - 8399361
  • Moon Phase: 4th quarter, waning (decreasing in light)
  • Void-off-Course: Yes: August 21 2014 @ approx 4:34 pm (EDT): 3:34 pm (ET): 12:34 pm (PT). Cancer is one of the four signs in which the v/c is a good thing.
  • House: 11th: House of  Teams, Groups, Friends and Causes
  • Opportunity Period: Yes: August 21 2014 @ approx 1:55 pm (EDT) 12:55 pm (ET) 9:55 am (PT). Until 5:49 pm (EDT) 4:49 pm (ET) 1:49 pm (PT)

What does it all mean:

  •  Cancer is ruled by the moon so for those of us who have Cancer as a “personal” planet or angle we may be inclined to be slightly more emotional.
  • Domestic duties may call to us, it’s best to enjoy this time around the home. It’s great for organizing, sitting back and checking out the progress so far, and figuring out the next plan for our home.
  • Group and team activities may involve or revolve around family, or there may be a sense of family unification regarding such events.
  • Water signs, Cancer, Pisces and Scorpio may be more sensitive, and may “imagine slights” that aren’t there or weren’t meant.
  • Some of us may feel more nurturing… babies, puppies and kittens may seem irresistible…
  • The last quarter moon is the perfect time wrap things up and get ready for the next new moon stage… we can find ourselves busy during this time tending to all the loose ends.
  • While the v/c moon in this opportune period is good because of the moon going void-off-course in the sign of Cancer, we are in the last quarter moon, which traditionally is good for “endings” or “finishing up” clearing the plate for the next new project… it is suggested then, that caution still be used when signing important papers or initiating new business dealings or general projects.

The Sun Moves into Virgo August 23 2014:

Virgo: Earth: Feminine: Mutable:

Sign of the Zodiac, depicted in the form of jewelry. Stock Photo - 8673487

The qualities of Virgo encourage her to be steady and sensible yet flexible when the need arises…

Virgo sees detail everywhere, all those little things that are so incredibly important the smooth running of a home or a business, Virgo is onto them… However, because she craves perfection she can be overly critical not only of others but of herself too… this can push Virgo’s to work harder and longer then some of the other signs, but may also create upset as nothing may seem good enough…

Happy to help and assist others, Virgo people are happiest when they feel needed and are kept busy, they have a fabulous down to earth, logical outlook on life and can put things in perspective for others… Great at trouble shooting..

Virgo’s love to keep lists and they need organization somewhere in their life to help them feel balanced.

Personal hygiene may be important along with an interest in health.

Virgo’s are advised to watch for a tendency to worry, especially over health issues, or for a tendency to make mountains out of mole hills.

Many Virgo’s can be found working in the health field.

Happy Birthday to Dayle, Cal, Dezi and to David and Beanie who are Virgo/Libra cusps… ☺

David Suzuki: The Blue Dot Tour 2014 “It’s about all of us”

SGC Admin: From our inbox to you… David Suzuki and the Blue Dot Tour

The Blue Dot Tour:

It’s about all of us

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Blue_Marble

now-famous 1972 photo of Earth taken by Apollo 17 astronauts from 45,000 kilometres away became known as “the blue marble”. The late scientist Carl Sagan described a 1990 picture taken from six billion kilometres away by the unmanned Voyager 1 as a “pale blue dot”.

The vision of Earth from a distance has profoundly moved pretty much anyone who has ever seen it. “When we look down at the earth from space, we see this amazing, indescribably beautiful planet,” International Space Station astronaut Ron Garan said. “It looks like a living, breathing organism. But it also, at the same time, looks extremely fragile.” Referring to the atmosphere, Garan added “it’s really sobering … to realize that, that little paper-thin layer is all that protects every living thing on Earth.”

Many astronauts report a deep feeling of connection that transcends borders and worldly conflict — referred to by some as the “overview effect“. Apollo 14’s Edgar Mitchell said, “You develop an instant global consciousness, a people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world, and a compulsion to do something about it. From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty.”

How can anyone who has even seen a photo of the Earth treat our small blue home with disdain and carelessness? How can anyone fail to recognize how precious and finite the resources, especially water, are — and that we must share and care for what we have?

The “blue marble” photo from Apollo 17, the last manned lunar mission, catalyzed the global environmental movement. Now, as people around the world compete for air, water and land — not just with each other, but with corporations bent on profit at any cost — we need a resurgence in action to care for our small blue planet.

That’s why I’m about to embark on what will likely be my last national tour. From September 24 to November 9, I’m crossing the country, from St. John’s, Newfoundland, to Victoria, B.C., with 20 stops along the way. The plan is to work with Canadians from all walks of life to protect the people and places we love. It’s the most important thing I’ve ever done.

And it’s going to be fun! Because they care deeply about our country and the planet, many friends are joining me along the way, including Feist, Neil Young, the Barenaked Ladies, Margaret Atwood, Kinnie Starr, Raine Maida, Grimes, Danny Michel, Stephen Lewis, Bruce Cockburn, Robert Bateman, Shane Koyczan and many more. (Blue Rodeo)

The goal of the Blue Dot Tour is to work with community leaders and groups, local governments, First Nations, musicians, writers, legal experts and — we hope — you on local, regional and national initiatives to ensure all Canadians have access to clean water, fresh air and healthy food. Ultimately, we’d like to see the right to a healthy environment enshrined in the Canadian Constitution’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

That may seem like a challenge, but it’s not unusual. More than half the world’s nations — at least 110 — have environmental rights in their constitutions. Not having them is a strange oversight in a country like Canada, where our clean air and water, spectacular nature and abundant wildlife and resources instill a sense of pride and make us the envy of people around the world.

Maybe we take our good fortune for granted. But we shouldn’t. Already, environmental hazards contribute to about 36,000 premature deaths in Canada a year, and half of us live in areas where we’re exposed to unsafe air pollution levels. Pollution costs Canada about $100 billion a year, and many people suffer from illnesses like asthma and heart disease because of environmental contamination.

As the rush to extract, transport and sell fossil fuels while there’s still a market heats up, it will only get worse — unless we all pitch in. It’s not about getting in the way of industry or progress; it’s about building a conversation about the kind of country we want. And it’s about ensuring that our economic activity creates more benefits than harm to people and the natural systems that keep us healthy and alive.

We hope you’ll join us. Visit BlueDot.ca for more information and tour dates in your area.

Full moon in Aquarius

Time to play at being a Rebel… :) A great time to break out of a rut or to try something different.. It’s time to let everyone know just how Unique we all are…

Be really careful however, of going overboard or of being “difficult” just for the fun of it… you might end up doing or saying something you regret later…

Aquarius is FREEDOM and wants to be allowed to be as unique and different as he feels….This may cause ripples in close relationships during this full moon…

The Full Moon falls in the 4th house of family/domestic concerns… Likely the life area where upset or celebration will occur.

This Full Moon is likely to effect those who have a Aquarius in the following…

The Sun: The Moon: Planets/Signs in the 11th house or 4th house: Aspects to the Moon: Positive aspects may be helpful, where as negative aspects may prove to be challenging.

Moon Void off Course:

This full moon will go void off course early in the evening. It is best to stick to routine tasks, avoiding making any important decisions during the void off course moon. If you can’t “feel” it then perhaps don’t indulge until the moon settles into Pisces in the morning of August 11 2014.
