Adult Djembe Drum Lessons Whitby: Begins February 6 2013

This is an ten-week introductory course designed for beginners on the West African djembe. 

Adults will learn basic technique, handing and some simple rhythms. Explore the fun of improvised drumming in a group.

No previous experience necessary. :)

The Pan Am and Parapan Am games will be held in our fair city come 2015… :) Known as the “people’s games” these events unite all athletes and the people who support them…

Children play a big part in the games and the City of Toronto is issuing a (creative) challenge to all Kids to come up with the perfect Mascot for the upcoming games…

A mascot is a person or a thing thought to bring good luck…. and usually symbolizes an event or Organization… (think Ronald McDonald) … :)

The Role of the Toronto 2015 Mascot is to…

  • Help tell the story of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games
  • Engage and capture the imagination of the public and, in particular, children.
  • Come to life in merchandise, including soft toys, pins, t-shirts and tickets.

What to do….

  • Form a group of two to six members
  • Learn about the Toronto 2015 Games at www.toronto2015.org
  • Create your mascot and it’s story.
  • Complete the entry form included and send by mail to: Toronto 2015 Mascot Creation Challenge, Corus Quay, 25 Dockside Drive, 7th floor, Toronto, ON M5A OB
  • Entry forms may also be submitted online at: toronto2015mascot.ca
  • Stay Tuned

Entry Details…

  • Toronto 2015 Mascot Challenge starts JANUARY 7, 2013
  • Submissions accepted by mail or upload until MARCH 8, 2013
  • Only group submissions of at least two member and up to a maximum of six will be accepted.
  • A winning group will be chosen based on selection criteria and the results of a national on-line voting contest.

The 1st Whitby Scouts are encouraging members of the community to drop of unwanted items at a special event this weekend, January 12 2013.
