                 Designed for adults, this is an eight-week introductory

                 course for beginners on the West African djembe. 

                 Learn basic technique, handing and some simple rhythms.

                 Explore the art of drumming  in a group.

Ten Week Course

No previous experience necessary. :)

Come join the Rotary Club of Oshawa for our 12th Annual Ribfest on September 6th, 7th, & 8th 2013 (the weekend after Labour Day). As always there will be great food and great entertainment. This year’s theme is country music. “

We start with a meditation and then let the drumming take us on an energizing, music making journey which is never the same twice.  We embrace the natural flow of free form drumming. There’s no right or wrong or pressure to perform. Just let go & drum. Djembes, Native frame drums and rhythms instruments are welcomed. Some extra drums are available. Please reserve.

Location: Front Gate of Oshawa Union Cemetery: 760 King Street West Oshawa

Cost: $2;00 for the public and it’s FREE for members of the Oshawa Historical Society

What’s There: A yearly event inviting members of the public to tour different sections of the cemetery. The tour is led by museum officials and a talk re: the history of the grave markers, the people buried there and the history of the cemetery.
