A Bit About Dog Guides…
Lions Foundation of Canada’s mission is to assist Canadians with a medical or physical disability by providing them Dog Guides at no cost.
To do this, the Foundation operates Dog Guides Canada, a preeminent national training school and charity that assists individuals with disabilities through specialized Dog Guide programs. These Dog Guides are provided at no cost to eligible Canadians from coast to coast despite costing $25,000 to trainand place.
The Foundation relies on donations from individuals, service clubs, foundations and corporations and does not receive any government funding.
We are excited to announce that we will host our second annual overnight camp-out in the city, theHomegrown Jamboree, as part of the Homegrown National Park Project this summer.
In partnership with Fort York, on August 22-23, we’ll be inviting a limited number of families to join our Homegrown Park Rangers for a night of camping on the grounds of the national historic site, located in the heart of downtown Toronto.
The cost for the Homegrown Jamboree is $30 per adult and $15 per child, including all meals, fun activities, s’mores by the campfire, ghost walks and more. Each family will need to provide their own tents and sleeping bags. Equipment can be rented, or better yet borrowed from campers in your networks.
If your family is interested in participating in the Homegrown Jamboree, please register ASAP. Apply early and be sure to let us know why you think your troop of happy campers is keen to join us! Application closes on July 24.
And this Friday will be our second Homegrown Pizza in the Park event of the season. We’ll once again have Pizzeria Libretto cooking slices, plus BBQ corn and watermelon.
If you want to make it a Pizza + Movie night, join us at the screening of “All the time in the world” at Bloor Cinema for 4p.m. Use our discount code DSPIZZANIGHT for $9 tickets. Then join us at Christie Pits Park for pizza at 6 p.m! Show us your ticket and get a dollar off your pizza.
