A Bit About Dog Guides… 
Lions Foundation of Canada’s mission is to assist Canadians with a medical or physical disability by providing them Dog Guides at no cost.
To do this, the Foundation operates Dog Guides Canada, a preeminent national training school and charity that assists individuals with disabilities through specialized Dog Guide programs. These Dog Guides are provided at no cost to eligible Canadians from coast to coast despite costing $25,000 to trainand place.
The Foundation relies on donations from individuals, service clubs, foundations and corporations and does not receive any government funding.

Volunteer foster care program slated for the fall, for the pets of abused women seeking shelter

SGC Admin: Women trapped in abusive relationships can get help, but it’s not easy to take the first step, this can be made more challenging if there are beloved pets in the home, this can sometimes deter a woman from making her “escape”… 

However, starting in the fall 2015 a new volunteer pet foster care program is slated to begin…. 

Volunteer’s are needed, and those who volunteer will need to go through a criminal background check, be open to home visits, provide references and sign off on the animal care guidelines…

Lavender Errands & Personal Services…. “how can we help”

SGC Admin: There are times when we need a little extra help, some folk don’t have family to help take care of everyday chores when they are recovering from surgery or ill…. Some folk feel safer while away when they know there is someone checking on the house for them… some folk are swamped with work, taking care of immediate family matters and may need an extra pair of hands when they are called upon to take on extra, such as helping with an elderly relative… Happily there are companies out there who can offer (for a fee) the support that is needed… We came across such a company in our local paper and are happy to share the information with you… :) Please note SGC staff have not used the following company, if you or a loved one has, we would love to hear how things went for you… :)
