The American Goldfinch (Carduelis tristis) is a member of the finch family. It’s easily detected by its birght yellow plumage and distinctive multi-note call.

Being principally a seed-eater, this bird enjoys seeds of thistle, dandelion, ragweed, cosmos, sunflower and alder.
